OPOROZA: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Emomotimi Guwor, has called on residents of Oporoza and the wider Gbaramatu Kingdom to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Guwor made the call during the inauguration of a modern market in Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State.
Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of Governor Oborevwori, the Speaker said the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations had demonstrated commitment to the development and wellbeing of people in the Niger Delta.
He urged the people of the kingdom to reciprocate what he described as the administrations’ efforts through continued political support.
“President Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations have demonstrated commitment to the development and wellbeing of the people of the Niger Delta. We should reciprocate the gesture through continued political support,” Guwor said.
He specifically appealed to residents to vote for Tinubu, Oborevwori and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
The Speaker, who described himself as a son of the soil, declared that Gbaramatu Kingdom would strongly support the President and the governor.
I am speaking as a son of the soil. Unequivocally, we will speak very loud. Not even one vote from Gbaramatu Kingdom will go to any other person,” he said.
Guwor praised the Tinubu administration for what he described as economic opportunities created in the Niger Delta, saying residents had benefited from companies and initiatives operating in the region.
He particularly mentioned Tantita and Maton, noting that their activities had created opportunities for people in the area.
You hardly can find any man or woman that is not benefiting in one way or the other from Tantita or Maton, he said.
Market to Boost Oporoza Economy
The Speaker also highlighted the economic importance of the newly inaugurated modern market, saying the facility would strengthen commercial activities and create additional opportunities for traders in Oporoza and surrounding communities.
According to him, the market would contribute to the growth of local businesses, improve economic activities and support the broader transformation of the riverine communities.
Guwor said the commissioning of the facility formed part of efforts to improve infrastructure and promote sustainable development in Oporoza and other communities across the riverine areas of Delta State.
He assured residents that continued support for government would be matched with sustained attention to their developmental needs.
The Speaker also acknowledged the role of traditional rulers and community leaders in shaping the political direction of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
He expressed confidence that the traditional leadership would continue to guide residents towards supporting the APC in the 2027 elections.
“When our chiefs say that this is the direction, and I already know the direction of our chiefs. That direction is to vote for Mr. President, to vote for all APC candidates, including our governor, Guwor said.
The mobilisation comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political leaders across Nigeria increasingly seeking the support of communities and influential grassroots structures.
