Ughelli North APC Leaders Reject Purported Suspension, Describe Action as Illegal and Void

WARRI: Leaders of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have dismissed the reported suspension and replacement of the party’s local executive officers, describing the move as fraudulent, unconstitutional, and dead-on arrival.

In a swift counteraction, the chapter also announced the indefinite suspension of nine members allegedly behind the purported suspension, accusing them of gross misconduct and impersonation.
Those affected include Samuel Evwighono, Juliet Oduma, Daniel Osiebe, Pharm. Ogaabe Suzzy, Omokiniovo John, Onakpoma Philip, Ekama Ufuoma, Sobotie Paul, and Emeyarakpo Ufuoma.

In a strongly worded rejoinder addressed to the Delta State Working Committee of the APC and signed by Hon. Obakpororo Onoabedje (Chairman) and Barr. (Mrs.) Beauty Ubogun-Nze (Secretary), the Ughelli North leadership disowned claims that an emergency meeting was held on October 4, 2025, where a vote of no confidence was allegedly passed on its executives.

There was no such meeting at the party secretariat on the 4th of October. The Chairman never called any meeting on that day, nor did the Secretary, who holds the keys to the secretariat, authorise any access. Any such claim is entirely false and fabricated,” the letter stated.

The Ughelli North APC described the alleged suspension as a flagrant breach and rape of the party’s constitution, referencing Article 2 of the APC Constitution (2022 as amended) which upholds constitutional supremacy. It declared any contrary action “illegal, null, and void ab initio.

Citing court precedents, including Majigiri vs Yusuf (2023) and Ariori vs Elemo (1983), the chapter maintained that the purported meeting and its outcome violated the principles of fair hearing and natural justice.

Such illegal actions devoid of due process are null and void for being contrary to the party’s constitution,” the rejoinder stated.

The local leadership dismissed as ridiculous allegations that the chairman had failed to convene meetings since 2023, insisting that regular sessions had been held with the participation of a two-thirds majority of executive members.

It also noted that new members were registered and issued party cards as recently as May 15, 2025.

Addressing claims of anti-party activities, the statement reaffirmed that the Chairman, Secretary, and Organising Secretary have consistently worked to build party unity and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a surprising revelation, the Ughelli North APC alleged that a deceased member, Chief Dickson Umukoro, was listed among those who supposedly signed the suspension notice a development they described as clear proof of forgery and desperation

The signatories of the purported resolution are not recognised members of the appropriate party organ empowered to call or vote at such a meeting, it added.

The leadership accused desperate elements of trying to destabilise the APC at the grassroots through illegal machinations and forged documents, warning that their actions could undermine unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Reaffirming their legitimacy, Onoabedje and Ubogun-Nze declared that the Ughelli North APC remains strong, united, and focused on electoral victory.

The Ughelli North Local Government Executive Committee under our leadership is vibrant and well-positioned to ensure APC’s total success in the next general elections, they stated.

At a subsequent leadership review meeting, the chapter passed a vote of confidence on Hon. Obakpororo Onoabedje (Chairman), Barr. (Mrs.) Beauty Ubogun-Nze (Secretary), and Mr. Henry Ophori (Organising Secretary), commending their “transparent leadership and commitment to party stability.

Meanwhile, the party reiterated that the nine suspended members remain barred pending investigation by a disciplinary committee, which will review their alleged constitutional breaches.

It warned all party members to desist from recognising or dealing with the suspended individuals.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the chapter’s loyalty to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and commending Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his MORE Agenda, which it described as “transformative for Delta State.

Copies of the rejoinder have been forwarded to the APC National Chairman, National Working Committee, and other relevant party organs.
