UBA Launches Diaspora Platform to Boost African Investments Globally

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has introduced a new diaspora banking and investment platform designed to connect Africans living abroad with structured investment, wealth management, and financial opportunities across the continent.

The initiative, unveiled at the bank’s headquarters in Lagos, was developed in collaboration with ecosystem partners including United Capital, Africa Prudential, UBA Pension Custodian, Afriland Properties, Heirs Insurance Group, and Avon Healthcare Limited. The collaboration aims to move diaspora engagement beyond remittances toward long-term wealth creation and investment.

Speaking at the launch, Head of Diaspora Banking Anant Rao said the platform represents a shift from simple money transfers to a broader financial ecosystem where Africans globally can bank, invest, ensure assets, and plan long-term wealth seamlessly.

UBA noted that diaspora remittances to Africa exceed $100 billion annually, describing them as a major and reliable capital source that can be channeled into structured investments for economic growth.

The bank’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, highlighted the importance of providing secure financial connections for Africans abroad, stressing that global mobility should not weaken economic ties to the continent.

The platform offers integrated services including banking and payments, investment products, pension solutions, insurance coverage, real estate opportunities, and healthcare access all aimed at helping diaspora Africans manage finances and family commitments across borders.

UBA also reaffirmed its commitment to the philosophy of AFRI capitalism championed by Chairman Tony Elumelu, which promotes private-sector investment as a driver of Africa’s economic development.

The bank believes mobilizing diaspora capital through trusted financial systems will play a key role in financing Africa’s future growth and strengthening economic links between Africans at home and abroad.
