ABUJA: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, forwarding his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The appointment follows the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who became the National Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in July 2025.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the nomination was formally announced on Tuesday after the President’s private meeting with his aides on Monday evening.
Tinubu reportedly discussed filling two cabinet vacancies, including that of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who recently resigned.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro boasts over two decades of professional experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and community development across Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Onanuga described Doro as “an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with NHS frontline experience across urgent care, GP practices, and hospital settings.”
He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA in IT-driven business strategy, and a master’s in advanced clinical Practice. Beyond his medical career, Doro is also known for his involvement in youth mentorship and social impact programmes both in Nigeria and the diaspora.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will be sworn in as part of President Tinubu’s cabinet at a forthcoming Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
