Nnamdi Kanu Clashes With Judge, Removed From Courtroom During Trial Proceedings

ABUJA: The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was on Thursday ordered out of the Federal High Court in Abuja after a heated exchange with the presiding judge during the hearing of terrorism charges filed against him by the Federal Government.

Kanu appeared before Justice James Omotoso for the court’s scheduled judgment on the matter.

However, shortly after proceedings began, he challenged the court’s jurisdiction and insisted that no judgment could be delivered until his written address was adopted according to law.

While the judge attempted to dismiss his objection, Kanu repeatedly interrupted, insisting that the court must rule on his objection before taking any further step.

The confrontation escalated to the point where Justice Omotoso briefly stepped out of the courtroom. Upon his return, he instructed security operatives to remove Kanu from the courtroom for disrupting proceedings.

The judge then ordered that the trial continue in Kanu’s absence, including the delivery of judgment and any subsequent sentencing.

Video clips from the courtroom show the moment Kanu argued with the judge before being escorted out by security personnel.
