NAF Airstrikes Kill 25 Terrorists in Borno, Yobe

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the killing of more than 25 terrorists in coordinated night airstrikes carried out in Yobe and Borno states.

In a statement on Saturday in Abuja, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation took place on September 18 in the Bula area of Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno State, following intelligence gathered from ground troops.

Ejodame explained that a force package consisting of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets and strike aircraft tracked terrorist movements and identified multiple hostile groups north of Banki. Real-time updates were relayed to ground forces, allowing for synchronized action.

“The strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters,” he said.

According to him, post-strike surveillance confirmed that ground forces maintained their defensive positions, with no further threats detected.

Ejodame added that the operation underscored the Air Force’s continued support for ground troops, its resolve to deny terrorists freedom of action, and its unwavering commitment to securing the North-East region.

The latest offensive comes barely two weeks after Boko Haram insurgents attacked Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, killing at least 63 people, including five soldiers.

The terrorists stormed the village on motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately, and burning homes and vehicles before military reinforcements arrived. Governor Babagana Zulum, who confirmed the death toll, described the incident as very sad.

The Nigerian military has intensified joint operations in the region in response to renewed terrorist activities, pledging to sustain pressure until normalcy is restored.
