Mohamed Salah Set to Leave Liverpool F.C. at End of 2025/26 Season

Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool F.C. at the end of the 2025/26 football season, bringing to a close a remarkable nine-year journey with the English Premier League giants.

According to reports from Sky Sports, the Egyptian forward and the club have mutually agreed to make his impending exit public well ahead of time, giving supporters clarity about his future and allowing fans to prepare for the end of an iconic era at Anfield.

In an official statement, Liverpool explained that Salah personally requested that the announcement be made early out of respect for the club’s supporters.

Salah expressed his wish to make this announcement to the supporters at the earliest possible opportunity to provide transparency about his future due to his respect and gratitude for them, the club said.

In a video message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Salah addressed Liverpool fans directly, confirming that he will leave the club when the season concludes.

Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season,” he said.

Reflecting on his time at Anfield, the Egyptian star acknowledged the deep emotional bond he formed with the club and its supporters.

I could never have imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life, Salah added.

Salah’s exit will mark the conclusion of one of the most successful individual eras in the history of Liverpool F.C.. Since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, the winger became one of the most prolific attackers in world football.

Under former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, Salah played a central role in restoring the club to the summit of European and English football. During his time at Anfield, he helped the club secure several major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League title.

His blistering pace, clinical finishing and consistency in front of goal made him a fan favourite and one of the most feared forwards in global football.

Over nearly a decade with Liverpool, Salah established himself as a club legend, breaking numerous scoring records and becoming one of the highest-scoring players in the club’s history. His contributions were instrumental in Liverpool’s return to domestic and continental dominance after years without major silverware.

Beyond the trophies, Salah’s influence extended to the dressing room and the wider football community, where he became a symbol of African excellence in European football.

As the 2025/26 season enters its final stretch, Liverpool supporters are expected to savour the remaining months of watching the Egyptian superstar in the famous red shirt before he begins the next chapter of his career.

His farewell message signals the start of what promises to be an emotional final run at Anfield for one of the club’s greatest modern icons.
