LAGOS: Guinness World Records holder and celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, is preparing to embark on another groundbreaking culinary adventure cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Baci, who captured global attention in 2023 after her record-breaking longest cooking marathon, revealed her latest project in a video shared on Instagram on Monday, September 1, 2025.
According to her, the specially designed pot for the feat has a staggering capacity of 22,619 litres, with a target to fill at least 75–80 percent of it.
Achieving this, she explained, will require no less than 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice, equivalent to about 250 bags of rice.
My goal is to fill this pot up by at least 75 to 80 percent. That means I will need about 5,278 kilogrammes of rice, Baci disclosed.
The scale of the project is equally astonishing. Baci revealed that cooking the giant jollof pot will require 1,583 kilogrammes of tomato paste.
She further explained that the tomato base would be shared across tomato paste, pepper chicken paste, and jollof paste to ensure the authentic Nigerian jollof taste is not compromised.
For one kilogramme of rice, you would need between 0.20 to 0.35. But because it’s Nigerian jollof, I’m going to use 0.30. That means I will need 1,583 kilogrammes of Gino tomato paste, she said.
Describing the project as more than just a cooking challenge, Baci noted that it is a celebration of Nigerian culture, food, and resilience.
The Guinness record-holder believes the initiative will not only spotlight Nigeria’s most famous dish on a global stage but also bring together communities in a unique food festival atmosphere.
This is not just about breaking a record, she added, it’s about cooking the most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice ever.
Hilda Baci’s latest venture has already stirred excitement across social media, with fans and food lovers eagerly awaiting the outcome of what promises to be a historic culinary event.
