ASABA: Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday welcomed the management team of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to Government House, Asaba, in a bid to deepen collaboration on affordable housing delivery for workers and residents across the state.

Representing the Managing Director of FMBN, Alhaji Shehu Usman, the Bank’s Executive Director, Muhammad Sani Abdul, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to tackling Nigeria’s estimated 20 million housing deficits.

He revealed that fresh plans are underway to replicate federal housing projects in Delta State, with a focus on middle- and low-income earners.

In a significant development, Governor Oborevwori formally handed over a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for 10.1 hectares of land in Ibusa, earmarked for the construction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)/Trade Union Congress (TUC) workers’ housing estate.

To ease the project’s take-off, the Governor also announced the waiver of N200 million in statutory fees.

Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering stronger federal–state partnerships, Oborevwori emphasized that affordable housing remains a cornerstone of his administration’s social welfare agenda.

He stressed that access to decent housing is not only critical to workers’ welfare but also to economic stability and family well-being in Delta State.
