EFCC Tells Court It Has No Evidence to Support Peter Okoye’s Allegation of $800,000 Fraud Against Jude and Paul Okoye

LAGOS: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has told a Lagos State Special Offences Court that it has no evidence to support singer Peter Okoye (Mr P)’s claim that his brothers, Jude Okoye and Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), fraudulently withdrew $800,000 from their joint company account during their P-Square days.

Peter had petitioned the EFCC in 2024, accusing Jude of diverting group funds, operating 47 undeclared bank accounts, and altering the shareholding structure of Northside Entertainment Ltd.

His petition led to Jude and Northside Music Limited being arraigned on March 4, 2025, over alleged conversion of $1 million and £34,000 royalties from digital distribution.

During cross-examination in May 2025, Peter alleged that Jude and Paul withdrew over $800,000 between 2023 and 2024 but later revised the timeline to 2013–2014. He also insisted Jude controlled 80% of Northside Entertainment.

However, during the resumed hearing on November 28, EFCC counsel Mohammed Bashir told Justice Rahman Oshodi that the commission could not tender any evidence to prove the alleged withdrawal.

We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have, Bashir said, adding that the EFCC also does not possess records of the alleged 47 accounts. The defence later tendered CAC documents contradicting Peter’s claim of an 80% ownership structure.

Peter further admitted he only became aware of Northside Music in 2024 after Cynthia Morgan sent him a contract on the company’s letterhead, despite her albums being credited to Northside Inc.

Justice Oshodi adjourned the matter to December 12, 2025, for continuation of trial.
