BENIN-CITY: Security operatives in Edo State have rescued a 12-year-old girl, identified simply as Blessing, five days after she was abducted by gunmen.
According to reports, Blessing was kidnapped at Ayogwiri and later found at Agenebode in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state on Friday, October 10, 2025.
She was said to have been seized by armed men suspected to be herders who attacked her mother and other women while they were returning from the farm.
The Edo State Security Corps confirmed that some of the suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation.
A viral video circulating online showed the moment the young girl was rescued from the forest by security personnel.
One of the local vigilante members involved in the rescue said the team combed through the forest until they located the victim.
He added that the kidnappers fled after a gun battle with the security team.
