Bvlgari Names Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Global Icon for Carrying Culture Campaign

Renowned Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been named a global icon by luxury jewellery brand Bvlgari as part of its 2026 Carrying Culture campaign, celebrating individuals who influence culture and storytelling around the world.

The award-winning writer was selected as a Friend of the House and will feature in the brand’s Bvlgari Icons Minaudière campaign for January 2026. The campaign was photographed by acclaimed fashion photographer Ethan James Green.

Adichie represents the sculptural clutch from the Icons Minaudière collection, designed by renowned fashion designer Mary Katrantzou.

The piece draws inspiration from the iconic Bvlgari jewellery motif and features a circular gold design with a mother-of-pearl face and engraved rim.

In campaign images released by the Italian luxury house, Adichie appears in an elegant off-the-shoulder white gown, accessorized with gold jewellery, including B.zero1 rings and bracelets, while posing beside the distinctive gold clutch.

In a video shared by the brand, Adichie spoke about her passion for writing and the deeper purpose behind her work.

According to her, she writes realistic fiction that reflects everyday life and human emotions. I write the kind of fiction that I hope will give someone who reads it a hundred years from now an idea of how we live today, she said.

She added that while novels may not always be ideologically perfect, they should aim for emotional truth.

My interest is in the human heart and how we navigate the world, and how the world in turn shapes us, she explained.

Bvlgari described her participation in the campaign as an exploration of how culture, identity and emotion intertwine in shaping human experiences.

Adichie joins other global figures selected for the campaign, including supermodel Linda Evangelista, actress Isabella Rossellini, actress Kim Ji-won, and architect Sumayya Vally.

The campaign highlights individuals who have made significant cultural contributions across fashion, literature, architecture and entertainment

The recognition comes at a time when Adichie is enjoying a major literary moment following the release of her latest novel, Dream Count.

The book, which follows the lives of four interconnected women navigating love, identity and modern life, has become one of the most talked-about literary releases of the year.

Adichie, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary writers, continues to shape global conversations on culture, feminism, identity and storytelling through both her literature and public engagements.
