WARRI: A disturbing trend of mysterious and violent deaths has continued to send shockwaves across Delta State, especially within the hospitality industry. In what appears to be another chilling episode, the lifeless body of a young woman was discovered in a guest house located along Airport Road in Warri last week.
According to reliable sources, the young woman had checked into the facility with a male companion. Not long after their arrival, the man exited the premises under the guise of retrieving something from outside. However, hours passed, and he never returned.
Suspicion grew among the hotel staff, particularly at the reception, who had earlier noticed the couple during check-in. Their unease prompted them to knock repeatedly on the door of the room the pair had occupied.
When they received no response, they were forced to break in. To their horror, they found the woman’s lifeless body on the bed. Her mouth had been gagged, and there were clear signs of foul play.
The Delta State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and described it as both heartbreaking and troubling. He revealed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime and that investigations are ongoing.
This tragic case is the latest in a string of hotel-related homicides in Delta State. Just a few months ago, a young man who had recently returned from Ghana was allegedly murdered in a hotel in Warri.
The incident only came to light when locals discovered a body that had been dumped and raised an alarm.

Another gruesome killing occurred recently in the Owheologbo community of Isoko North Local Government Area, where Mr. Sunday Ogofotha, a guest at a local hotel, was reportedly murdered by suspected criminals. These disturbing events have sown fear among residents and travelers alike, raising serious concerns about the safety and security protocols in place at many hotels and guest houses in the state.
According to investigations by NDV, a common thread in these attacks appears to be financial exploitation. The perpetrators reportedly coerce victims into transferring money from their bank accounts using Point-of-Sale (POS) machines.
Once the funds are obtained, the criminals allegedly murder their victims and flee with their mobile phones, making it harder to trace them.
The escalating violence has prompted widespread concern and calls for urgent action. Many residents are now pleading with the Delta State Police Command to step up its efforts and develop proactive strategies to combat the rising wave of violent crimes within hospitality establishments.
As these tragic occurrences continue, the public remains on edge, with many questioning how such heinous acts can keep happening undetected and demanding that justice be served swiftly and thoroughly.
