ABUJA: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new online system that allows 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results without visiting a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre.
The new initiative, which initially covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is designed to simplify the O’Level upload process and reduce the pressure on CBT centres.
Under the arrangement, candidates can have their results electronically verified against records held by the examination body before the verified results are uploaded directly to their JAMB profiles.
JAMB announced the development on Monday, saying the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to improve digital services and reduce the challenges associated with manual O’Level result uploads.
The new system is expected to be particularly useful during periods of high demand, when candidates often face long queues, network problems and delays at CBT centres.
Candidates seeking to use the new service are required to obtain an O’Level Result Verification Code before uploading their results.
To generate the code, candidates are expected to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), indicate the number of O’Level sittings and select the relevant examination body or bodies.
They will also be required to provide their email address and telephone number before completing payment through JAMB’s approved payment gateway.
Afterwards, candidates must enter details including their examination number, examination series and examination year.
Once the information has been successfully verified against the records of the examination body, JAMB will issue a Verification Code.
Candidates are then required to send VERIFY followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019.
Following successful processing, the verified O’Level result will be uploaded to the candidate’s JAMB profile, while a notification will be sent to confirm completion.
Candidates presenting two O’Level results are required to log into their JAMB e-Facility accounts and select the “2026 UTME O’Level Upload option.
After entering the Verification Code, the verified results will appear on the platform.
Candidates can then select the subjects and grades they want to upload to their profiles.
JAMB stated that candidates must select at least five and a maximum of nine subjects, with no subject appearing more than once.
The process is intended to reduce mistakes that can occur when candidates or CBT operators manually enter examination subjects and grades.
Beyond convenience, JAMB said the digital verification system would strengthen the authentication of candidates’ O’Level results.
The integration allows candidates’ results to be checked directly against records maintained by the relevant examination bodies before the information is uploaded to their JAMB profiles.
This is expected to help prevent the submission of fraudulent, inaccurate or unverified O’Level results during the admission process.
The system could also reduce cases where candidates mistakenly enter incorrect grades or examination details during manual uploads.
The latest development is part of JAMB’s broader digital transformation programme aimed at reducing unnecessary physical visits to CBT centres and making admission-related services more accessible.
By allowing candidates to complete O’Level verification and upload electronically, the Board is seeking to reduce queues, paperwork and other administrative bottlenecks associated with the traditional process.
JAMB said it would continue to strengthen its collaboration with examination bodies and other relevant agencies as more services are brought into its digital ecosystem.
For thousands of 2026 UTME candidates, the development could make the O’Level upload process faster and more convenient, particularly for those who have already obtained their examination results.
Candidates are, however, advised to ensure that the personal and examination information they provide during the verification process is accurate before submitting their requests.
