FG, NLNG, NDDC Team Up to Complete 27.1km Bonny Ring Road in Rivers

The Federal Government, through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), is collaborating with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to accelerate the completion of the 27.1-kilometre Bonny Ring Road and bridges in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This was confirmed by the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, during an inspection visit to the project site.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Ogbuku emphasized that the partnership aligns with the development mandate issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Niger Delta region.

Dr. Ogbuku, accompanied by the commission’s Executive Director of Projects, Victor Antai, and other top officials, also visited the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, at his palace.

He said the commission was not only on ground to inspect the Bonny Ring Road but also to seek royal blessings ahead of NDDC’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

He noted that the anniversary activities would begin with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Ondo State, and include naming the new NDDC headquarters at Marine Base, Port Harcourt, after the late Niger Delta icon, Harold Dappa-Biriye.

Ogbuku restated NDDC’s commitment to needs-based projects aimed at uplifting the lives of people in the oil-producing areas. We are fully committed to implementing President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the Niger Delta, he said.

He revealed that the commission is working closely with international oil companies to attract funding for large-scale infrastructure development.

Our collaboration with NLNG is focused on completing the Bonny Ring Road, Kaa-Ataba Bridge, and the Okrika-Borokiri Bridge, he added.

The NDDC boss stressed that the commission’s efforts are complementary to those of state governments, not competitive. He stated that the Bonny Ring Road is one of the legacy projects captured in the 2024 NDDC budget and approved by President Tinubu for completion.

According to him, the project will promote economic growth, improve mobility, and reduce poverty in Bonny and surrounding areas.

These infrastructure projects will open up communities, drive development, and stand as lasting legacies of this administration’s commitment to the Niger Delta, Ogbuku affirmed.
