Owerri-Imo State: On Tuesday, July 2, the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chike Olemgbe, announced the suspension of four members who were involved in a plot to oust him from his position.
Speaker Olemgbe confirmed the suspension during a press briefing on Tuesday, stating that all suspended members who were part of the plot to remove him “have been stripped of their roles in all standing committees they lead.”
The suspension was declared by Speaker Olemgbe during a plenary session of the House.

The suspended lawmakers included Samuel Otuibe (Ahiazu-Mbaise), Henry Agbasonu (Ezinihitte-Mbaise), Chidiebere Ogbunikpa (Okigwe Constituency) and Dominic Ezerioha (Oru-West).

WHO IS CHIKE OLEMGBE ?
Chike Olemgbe was elected speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly in 2023 at the age of 40.
The first-time lawmaker, who represents Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area, was elected during the inauguration of the tenth State House of Assembly in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
Olemgbe is the former Chairman of the Ihitte/Uboma LGA caretaker.
