DUBAI-UNITED ARAB EMIRATE: The Atlantis Resort, Dubai has announce the appointment of Paul Baker as the new president of Atlantis Resorts, The appointment was revealed in an internal memo from Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International, the operator of the Atlantis brand.
This decision comes as part of the company’s strategic move to strengthen its management among evolving regulations and market dynamics in the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
Paul Baker will bring in broad casino experience at a time when hotels in the UAE are reviewing newly released gaming regulations.
Baker before his new appointment has served as president of the Grand Lisboa Palace in Macau, a $5 billion worth resort with nearly 1,900 rooms, 300 gaming tables, and 1,150 slot machines.
Paul’s wealth of expertise and leadership to Atlantis Resort. Throughout Paul’s career, working in key markets including Las Vegas, America, Malaysia, and Macau, China, Paul has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership and a deep understanding of the integrated resort industry.”
With close to twenty years experience in the hotel and resort industry, he has worked as executive vice president at Wynn Macau for one year and five years as vice president at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Paul Baker’s broad background includes his most recent role as president of the Grand Lisboa Palace in Macau, a massive $5 billion resort that features nearly 1,900 rooms, 300 gaming tables, and 1,150 slot machines.
Mr Baker, has been an experienced executive with nearly two decades the casino and hospitality industry, he will oversee the operations and development of Atlantis Resorts’ flagship locations in Dubai.
His appointment comes at a time when the UAE is reviewing new gaming regulations, making his expertise particularly valuable as the company navigates potential changes in the market.
Paul Baker is expected to bring a fresh perspective and operational excellence to Atlantis Resorts, leveraging his international experience to drive growth and enhance the guest experience at the iconic Dubai properties.
Citing an internal memo allegedly written by the CEO of Atlantis operator Kerzner International, Philippe Zuber, the outlet says Baker will start his new role on 26 August and initially work across Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal.
Long-time Kerzner VP Martin Chung will temporarily look after Atlantis Sanya in China until Baker has been “fully orientated into the brand.”
