Aboru in Lagos, Set to Hold Community Day For Progress By ISAAC DANIEL

LAGOS: All arrangements have been concluded as all Aboru residents under the umbrella of Joint CDA, in Lagos holds an exciting community day for the progress of all residents, friends and well-wishers of Aboru Community in Oke Agbado Odo Local Council Development Area,LCDA of Lagos State, Nigeria.

The Aboru community with over one million residents is a prominent community on Agbado Oke Odo LCDA. It shares borders with Oke’Sagun Command, Abesan Ipaja, and Agbelekale areas of Lagos.

The Celebration holds on Saturday December 6, 2025, at the spacious Hilltop Garden, in the Pipeline area of the community from 11.00am.
According to organizers a number of rich and attractive programmes have been lined up for the community-based event.

Among these are cultural shows and displays, interactive programmes, wining and dining as well as presentation of awards to some deserving members of the community.

Speaking about the day, the Chairman of the Joint CDA Pastor Lawrence Olupinla said the Community Day which is the first of its type will be used to draw attention to Aboru Community and bring development to the place.

He said, Aboru is a community that is in its process of development, adding, while we want to use the avenue to celebrate the founding fathers of the community, we will use it to draw the attention of the government and the larger society to the development needs of Aboru.

For instance, works are already in progress to develop the Police post to a level that would meet the security needs of a growing community like Aboru.

We will take the advantage to let the government know that we need more public schools, infrastructure and usable road networks in the community. We want to see the government networking our roads to our neighboring communities.

For instance, we want to see the government helping us to link Aboru to Oke’ Sagun Command area, as well as Meiran-Ile Iwe with good access roads. We believe such will help Lagosians to move freely within the community.

He stressed further another challenge we have in the community is that of water and flooding of our area each time rain falls.

The state government has indeed commenced the channelization, but we want the government to expedite action and finish the works with immediate effect.

Pastor Olupinla used the opportunity to invite members of the public to the community event as he further revealed that members of his Joint CDA with 26 Community Development Associations have already been buying the Ankara uniform to be used for the day.

As much as we want the members of the larger society to join us for the celebration, we want to inform them that Ankara admits participants to the event venue, and we thank our members for their supports and cooperation in this respect.

Aboru Community Day endorsed by the Chief in Council for Aboru is being put together by a Planning Committee chaired by Elder Olarinde Adeniyi, Mukadam Oyetola Abdulkabir as Secretary and Mr. Julius Adegunna as Head of Media and Publicity Committee, with other eminent members of the community in different sub-committees.

Expected to grace the celebration are the Chairman of Agbado Oke Odo LCDA, Hon. Ishola Abiodun Ejigbadero, members of his cabinet and the legislative team, Aboru traditional Chief in Council as well as the elected representatives to the State and National Assembly.
