The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), has once again failed to appear before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, despite being formally invited for an interactive session.
The committee, established by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and officially inaugurated on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, had initially scheduled the engagement for Thursday, April 17. However, at the request of Vice Admiral Ibas, the meeting was postponed to Wednesday, April 24.

The session was intended to shed light on the political and administrative situation in Rivers State following Ibas’s appointment as sole administrator. Lawmakers were hoping to receive firsthand updates on governance and related developments in the state.
Despite the rescheduling made to accommodate him, Ibas did not attend the session. This is particularly notable given that he was confirmed to be in Abuja on the same day for a National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.
