Tinubu Nominates Ibas, Enang And Others As Ambassadorial Picks

 

ABUJA: President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, naming Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), Senator Ita Enang, and several other prominent figures for diplomatic postings.

The list, which includes 34 career diplomats and 31 non-career ambassadors and high commissioners, was read on the Senate floor by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Among the non-career nominees are former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, ex-Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and former presidential aide Reno Omokri.

Others include former Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Chioma Ohakim, Bello Danbazau, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.

The Senate has referred the nominations to its Committee on Foreign Affairs for screening, with a one-week deadline to submit its report.

With this latest batch, the total number of ambassadorial nominees awaiting confirmation now stands at 68, including three previously screened candidates: Kayode Are, Aminu Dalhatu, and Ayodele Oke.
