ABUJA: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday depart Abuja for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.
The President’s first destination will be London, United Kingdom, where he is expected to spend part of the period before returning to Nigeria.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu’s three-week absence from the country is part of his annual leave and will also include a working vacation.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the break and resume official engagements, including preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Onanuga said Tinubu would return home to join the campaign activities ahead of the January 2027 election.
The presidential trip comes as political activities intensify across the country ahead of the 2027 elections, with political parties and candidates expected to step up their mobilisation in the coming months.
Tinubu, who is seeking another term in office, is expected to participate actively in the ruling All Progressives Congress campaign following his return from the vacation.
The Presidency did not disclose the other European destinations Tinubu may visit during the three-week period.
The statement was dated August 30, 2026, and signed by Onanuga in his capacity as Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
