President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to shelve a planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protest slated for August 1.
Information Minister Mr mohammed Idris briefed some state house correspondence after a brief meeting with president Tinubu.
Mr Idris in his statement said Mr President does not see any need for the plan nationwide strike , He asked the organizers to shelve the plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas,” the minister said.
The Plan nationwide strike against economic hardship, which is gaining traction on social media, has been scheduled to be held across all states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in August. The organisers of the protest have been faceless.
Nigerians in the last few months have seen prices of food and basic commodities skyrocket as Nigerians battle one of the country’s worst inflation and economic crisis sparked by the government’s twin policies of petrol subsidy removal and unification of forex windows.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and embattled removed chief whip of the senate, Senator Alli Ndume have beg the President to address the demands of the angry Nigerian youths
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga in his X handle on Saturday alleged that the presidential candidate of the Labour paerty in the 2023 election is the brain behind widely circulated call for national protest,.
Mr Onanuga warned that the planned protest, if staged, could degenerate into the destruction of life and property like that of EndSARS protest against police brutality and extrajudicial killings in October 2020
