AGBOR: The Delta State Police Command has dismantled a major drug cartel and arrested more than 100 youths allegedly involved in illicit drug activities in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
The breakthrough was announced in a statement posted on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
According to the update, the operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Edafe disclosed that the raid followed rising concerns over drug abuse among young people in the state.
The operation resulted in the arrest of over one hundred suspects and the recovery of large quantities of illegal substances.
His statement read in part: The rate of drug abuse among our youth is getting out of hand. An operation led by the DCP Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi (@Princemoye1), resulted in the arrest of over one hundred suspects all youths at a drug cartel in Agbor.
Large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered. We need to calm down o.
The police say investigations are ongoing and assure residents of sustained operations aimed at curbing drug trafficking and misuse across Delta State.
