The spoke person of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),said his party has opened discussions with former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwnkawaso and the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in the 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Like the majority of the party’s supporters, Abdullahi blamed the PDP’s electoral loss in 2023 on a number of factors, especially Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s departure to competing parties just months before the presidential election.
He said the three opposition candidates in the last election – PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) – would put personal interests aside and form a formidable alliance to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027.
However, he expressed confidence that the party’s efforts in reaching out to these influential politicians who were formerly part of the PDP would be successful before 2027.
Abdullahi said, “We have lost Kwankwaso, we have lost Peter Obi — all of these people — imagine if they are in the party, we will have gone to win the elections.
This APC said they defeated us with over one million votes; if only one of the names I mentioned had filled that void, we would be in power right now, and Nigerians would not have been exposed to such hopelessness and despair across the whole country.”
He claims that discussions are in progress to return the PDP to control before the 2027 elections, including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, his rival in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the general elections of 2023.
