PDP Appoints South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee to Oversee Affairs

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially approved the establishment of the South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs in the region.

This committee will commence its duties on Monday, March 10, 2025, immediately following the expiration of the current zonal executive’s tenure on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

In a statement released on Friday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, confirmed the decision. He emphasized that the move aligns with the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

The decision to constitute a caretaker committee stems from the need to ensure continuity in leadership, prevent any administrative vacuum, and maintain the smooth functioning of the party’s activities within the South-South region.

The primary responsibility of this committee will be to ensure that the party remains united and functional, particularly during this transitional period.

Furthermore, the NWC has called on all party leaders, key stakeholders, and members of the PDP in the South-South zone to align with this decision. The party leadership urged them to cooperate with the caretaker committee and work collectively in the interest of the party’s growth and stability within the region.

The statement reiterated the importance of unity and collaboration, emphasizing that all members should continue striving for the party’s success in the zone.

With this development, the PDP aims to reinforce its presence in the South-South region and ensure the smooth transition to a new leadership structure.

Party members and stakeholders are expected to give their full support to the caretaker committee as it undertakes its duties in the coming months.
