LAGOS: The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has began a probe into an incident involving the destruction of a Nigerian passport recently at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
This was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr Kenneth Udo.

The public has become more nervous about the incident, which was caught on camera and has been making news on social media.

The statement further highlighted the dedication the agency is to respecting the Immigration Act to protect national security and maintain the integrity of Nigeria’s diplomatic and legal institutions.
The statement went on, “The Nigeria Immigration Service is steadfast in its dedication to maintaining the integrity and dignity of the country’s legal instruments, as well as to upholding the provisions of the Immigration Act in the interest of national security.”
The act specifies fines for several kinds of infractions.
The statement also emphasized the service’s commitment to strictly enforcing the Immigration Act.
