AWKA: The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, as coordinator of its Anambra State Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment forms part of the party’s preparations to strengthen its political organisation, coordinate campaign activities and mobilise support across the state ahead of the forthcoming polls.
The campaign council also features prominent political figures, including Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District; Senator Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra North; and Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, the party’s senatorial candidate for Anambra South.
The appointments were announced in a statement signed by the NDC State Director of Media and Publicity, Dr. Tony Onyima.
The party’s latest move brings together serving lawmakers, political stakeholders and campaign officials under a coordinated structure designed to oversee its electoral activities throughout Anambra State.
According to the announcement, Chief Egwuoba Okika Innocent has been named Deputy State Coordinator, while former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, will serve as State Chairman.
Barr. Paulinus Akabogu Izuchukwu was appointed State Campaign Secretary.
The party also announced campaign coordinators for the three senatorial districts to strengthen mobilisation and campaign organisation across the state.
They are Hon. Kingsley Nwafor for Anambra South, Hon. Chuka Ezenwunne for Anambra Central and Hon. Chigbo Enwezor for Anambra North.
All serving federal and state lawmakers elected on the NDC platform will also serve as members of the campaign council.
The campaign council’s structure includes several directorates expected to manage different aspects of the party’s election preparations.
Emeka Kissinger Osisi was appointed State Director of Youth Mobilisation, while Barr. Ogechukwu Ekweozor will oversee women mobilisation.
DIG Celestine Okoye (retd.) was named Director of Security, while AIG Innocent Ndubueze Anene (retd.) will serve as Director of Election Monitoring and Vote Protection.
The appointments also cover media and publicity, finance, logistics, grassroots mobilisation, new media, protocol, policy research and documentation, and special duties.
Dr. Tony Onyima will serve as State Director of Media and Publicity, with Paschal Azubuike as his deputy.
Hon. Lady Azuka Enemuo was named Director of Finance, while Mrs. Chika Ezeali will serve as Deputy Director.
The council will also work through coordinators across Anambra State’s 21 local government areas, a structure intended to extend the party’s mobilisation efforts to communities and grassroots political networks.
The NDC Anambra State Campaign Council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in Awka.
The inauguration is expected to formally commence the council’s activities as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
With its appointments spanning political leadership, youth and women mobilisation, security, communications and election monitoring, the party has outlined an organisational framework for coordinating its campaign operations across the state.
The effectiveness of the structure will ultimately depend on its ability to translate political organisation and grassroots engagement into electoral support as the 2027 elections approach.
The announcement, however, did not detail the council’s campaign timetable, policy priorities or specific electoral targets.
