I Am Not APC But Laud Tinubu Economic Reforms-Doyin Okupe

Dr Doyin Okupe, a former Director-General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 General Election, has laud the economic reforms of president Bola Tinubu led APC Administration.

The politician says he is not a member of the ruling APC but appreciates the bold steps taken by the the president to reforms the key sectors of the economy.

The former  presidential spokesperson of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, declared this on his X handle (formerly Twitter) while reacting to criticisms over his appreciation of Tinubu’s ecomomic reforms

Mr Okupe has been criticized for always supporting, advising, and praising every government in power since 1999.

He had served as an aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and then Goodluck Jonathan as a PDP member.

He later joined Labour Party to support the presidential bid of Peter Obi for the 2023 elections.

Okupe said, “I am neither a member of the APC nor an adviser of the administration.

As all the candidates came to consensus during the campaign, I commend President Bola Tinubu’s brave moves towards removing fuel subsidies.

“Specialized balancing of our foreign exchange market is a concept I fully support also.

“The reasons for this reforms are partly responsible for the economic challenges that our people are currently experiencing, but given the government’s rigorous efforts to improve them, I believe these challenges are going to last shortly.

“This is not singing praises.” I can be impartial and understandingly supportive simply because I have never considered myself to be a member of the opposition.

I may not have been part of bringing the present administration in position, but I still have a stake in it because it is my country. I have no desire it will collapse or go down. As this

This not a song of praise. I am able to be objective and supportive despite having any prejudices since I don’t see myself to be a member of the opposition.

Even though I may not have had something to do with bringing this administration in place, I nevertheless, have a stake in this country. I don’t wish for it to fail or crash. There can be no offense here.

He urged those who were skeptical of him to stop being so personal, especially Mr. Dele Momodu, a PDP leader.”There is no need for anything personal; we are all professionals, individuals, and notable actors in this amphitheater. “Let’s continue yo be professional, mature, and acceptable criticism,” he added.

The allegation made by Dele  Momodu that i have been complementing every government since 1999 was false. He remarked

Okupe said that he did not play any significant role in the succeeding administration of late President Umaru Yar Adua.

The former presidential spokesman said that he, however, became an adviser for the second time in the Jonathan administration, which was defeated by the former President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC.

According to Okupe, his association with former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Peter Obi is in no way different from Momodu’s current association with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. (NAN)
