Forget Personal Grievances, Let’s Work for APC— Oborevwori Declares, Vows to Ensure All APC Candidates Win

ASABA: Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that his political project is inseparable from that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unite and work for the victory of all the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Oborevwori made the declaration on Thursday, October 22, 2026, while addressing APC leaders, stakeholders and members of the Delta State APC Campaign Council at its inauguration in Asaba, where he expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects and challenged members to put aside personal grievances in the interest of collective success.

The governor, who emphasised his commitment to President Tinubu’s political vision, maintained that the party’s electoral ambitions must take precedence over individual disagreements, internal rivalries and personal interests.

According to him, his political project is aligned with that of the President, stressing the need for party members to work together to secure victory for APC candidates at all levels.

My project is my President’s project, Oborevwori declared, reaffirming his political alignment with Tinubu and his determination to mobilise support for the party’s candidates.

He urged party members to ensure that the APC records electoral victories across Delta State, insisting that unity, commitment and effective grassroots mobilisation would be essential to achieving the objective.

If you are angry because of the President, because of me, because of anybody, or because of the party, forget about it. Let’s work for the party. There’s no other key except that, the governor said.

The governor called on APC members, campaign coordinators and political stakeholders to rally behind all the party’s candidates, including those contesting seats in the National Assembly, the State House of Assembly and other elective positions.

He maintained that the party must approach the forthcoming elections with a collective determination to secure victories for its candidates rather than allow disagreements over individual ambitions to weaken its political structure.

Oborevwori also challenged party members who doubted the APC’s electoral prospects, questioning suggestions that the party could not win elections in the oil-rich state.

You say we are not going to win. How? No, how? How? Say we will not win. How? In that state? How?” he queried.

His remarks conveyed confidence in the APC’s ability to consolidate its political standing in Delta and compete effectively across the state’s constituencies.

The governor’s call for an all-candidate victory places considerable emphasis on the responsibilities of the newly inaugurated campaign council, party leaders and grassroots mobilisers, whose activities will be central to the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

For the party, the challenge will be to translate political alignment at the leadership level into broad-based support across communities, wards and local government areas.

Oborevwori also criticised the campaign approach of political opponents, alleging that the same individuals were repeatedly deployed to campaign at different locations.

According to the governor, familiar faces appeared at multiple campaign events, a development he suggested raised questions about the reach and effectiveness of their mobilisation efforts.

“They recycle their people. You see them. Look at the faces. The same people who campaign in this place are the ones going there to campaign,” he said.

The governor’s criticism appeared to draw a distinction between campaigns built around familiar political supporters and broader mobilisation capable of attracting new voters and undecided members of the electorate.

The allegation, however, was not independently verified in the address.

Oborevwori also referred to the expressions of people encountered during campaign-related activities, asking whether they appeared happy.

When you look at their faces, are they smiling? No, he remarked.

The governor recounted undertaking a brief walk to assess the party’s performance and observe public reactions, describing encounters with crowds and repeatedly referring to “ukodo,” an expression whose precise meaning in the context of the speech requires clarification.

His comments highlighted the importance of grassroots engagement and the need for political parties to understand the mood, expectations and concerns of the electorate.

The governor’s declaration that his project is the President’s project further underscored his political alignment with the Tinubu administration and the APC’s national electoral objectives.

By linking his political ambition with that of the President, Oborevwori sought to reinforce the message that party members must work towards a common purpose rather than pursue competing political interests.

His appeal comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections, with political parties expected to strengthen their campaign structures, mobilise supporters and consolidate their positions across the country.

In Delta, the APC’s challenge will involve sustaining political cohesion while convincing voters through its candidates, policy proposals and record of governance.

The governor’s emphasis on securing victory for all APC candidates also reflects the importance of coordinated campaigning across the senatorial districts and federal and state constituencies.

However, electoral success will ultimately depend on the candidates’ appeal to voters, campaign organisation, public confidence and the conduct of a credible electoral process.

Oborevwori urged party faithful to put aside disagreements with political leaders and other members, insisting that personal grievances should not be allowed to undermine the party’s collective ambitions.

He called for stronger coordination among APC structures at the local government and ward levels, encouraging party members to intensify engagement with residents and communicate the party’s message effectively.

The governor’s message was that electoral victories would require more than political declarations or large campaign gatherings, stressing the importance of reaching voters directly and building public confidence.

He also urged party members to maintain discipline and peaceful conduct throughout the campaign period, warning against actions capable of creating divisions or disrupting the peace of the state.

The governor’s administration has promoted its M.O.R.E Agenda, focusing on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.

As the APC advances its preparations for 2027, the governor’s appeal is for party members to promote the administration’s development agenda while supporting President Tinubu’s political objectives.

The inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council brought together party leaders, stakeholders and supporters as the party moved to strengthen its mobilisation machinery ahead of the general elections.

The campaign council is expected to coordinate political activities, strengthen party structures and drive engagement with voters across the state.

Oborevwori’s message to the party was direct: members must close ranks, abandon internal grievances and work towards ensuring that all APC candidates emerge victorious at the polls.

With the 2027 elections approaching, the effectiveness of the party’s campaign machinery, the unity of its members and its ability to respond to the concerns of Deltans will be crucial in determining whether the governor’s electoral confidence translates into votes.

For Oborevwori, securing victory for the APC’s candidates remains a collective responsibility, one he believes requires party loyalty, disciplined mobilisation and a shared commitment to the party’s political project.
