ASABA: Chief Ossai Ossai, a former member of the House of Representatives, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his commitment to working alongside President Bola Tinubu in nation-building.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, Ossai was warmly received by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, who formally welcomed him into the party.
Ossai, who previously represented Ndokwa East in the House, expressed confidence that his defection, along with that of other prominent PDP figures in Delta State, would significantly weaken the opposition party in the region.
He specifically noted that the recent departure of key figures, including Senator Ned Nwoko, would further diminish the PDP’s influence in the state.
Describing President Tinubu as both his mentor and role model since their time in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Lagos, Ossai referred to him as a “grand master of politics.

He stated that his decision to join the APC was based on his alignment with the party’s ideology and governance approach.
I have followed President Tinubu for years, and I see him as a role model. I am here to contribute to his vision and the progress of this nation, he declared.
Addressing concerns about alleged divisions within the APC in Delta, Ossai dismissed such claims, stating that while caucuses exist,
they do not indicate a split in the party. Instead, he pledged to foster unity within the party to strengthen its chances in the 2027 elections.
“Tinubu is shaping the country’s direction, and I want to be part of that transformation, he added. “The PDP is in my past. My focus is now on working for Nigeria, not just a political party.
Having served three terms as a PDP lawmaker, Ossai expressed disappointment over what he described as the party’s structural decline.
He affirmed his full commitment to the APC, noting that he had already received his membership card and participated in APC senatorial meetings.
He also vowed to uphold the party’s constitution and play an active role in driving the Renewed Hope Agenda in Delta State.
Highlighting agriculture as a critical sector benefiting from Tinubu’s administration, Ossai promised to support initiatives that would improve the lives of Nigerians.
Welcoming Ossai into the APC, National Secretary Senator Bashiru congratulated him on his decision and commended his dedication to national development.
He also criticized the PDP’s ongoing internal struggles, arguing that a party unable to manage its own affairs could not be trusted to govern the country effectively.
