ASABA: Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure development and economic growth in Delta State, aiming to position the state for global competitiveness.
Speaking during a high-level meeting with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) management at the company’s global headquarters in Beijing, China, the governor emphasized the importance of strategic international partnerships in transforming Delta’s economy.
During the meeting, Governor Oborevwori presented a detailed outline of his administration’s infrastructure-focused development agenda. The plan prioritizes economic empowerment, improved road and transport systems, and creating pathways for Delta citizens to compete globally.
Oborevwori explained that his vision is anchored in sustainable development, emphasizing economic diversification and a higher standard of living for the people of Delta State.

Accompanied by Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), and Engineer Bob Nakpodia, his Technical Assistant, the governor reiterated the significance of infrastructure in achieving his administration’s MORE agenda.
He highlighted plans to modernize road networks, expand bridge construction, and improve public transportation to connect both urban and riverine communities.
He noted that Delta’s long-standing collaboration with CCECC has been key to prior infrastructure achievements. The governor used the occasion to promote investment opportunities within the state and explained how Delta’s economy is being repositioned for greater resilience and investor confidence.
The delegation also toured the CCECC digital exhibition rooms, which showcased various infrastructure projects executed across Africa, offering a glimpse into the scale and impact of the company’s work on the continent.
Welcoming Governor Oborevwori and his team, China Civil Engineering Construction Company, President Chen Sichang praised the enduring relationship between the company and Delta State.
He recalled the corporation’s presence in Nigeria since 1981 and noted CCECC’s broad project portfolio including roads, railways, bridges, public buildings, and erosion control infrastructure.
Sichang emphasized that the company’s projects have created employment for hundreds of Nigerians and commended Oborevwori for his commitment to quality infrastructure, fiscal responsibility, and transparent governance all attributes he said align with CCECC’s corporate values.
