The lead counsel of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Alloy Ejimakor has said that the immediate past Directors General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai, and that of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, were behind the extraordinary rendition of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)leader,Nnamdi Kanu.
Barrister Ejimakor made this assertion on his X Platform on Tuesday. Recall that Kanu was extraordinarily renditioned from Kenya to Nigeria in June 2021. In view of that, Kanu through Ejimakor in March 25, 2022, filed a N25bn suit against FG over his rendition from Kenya
The leader of IPOB is asking for a court order claiming that the applicant’s arrest in Kenya by the Respondents’ agents without following the necessary legal procedures was arbitrary.
Also, the applicant’s enforced disappearance for eight days by the Respondents and their refusal to appear before a Kenyan court for the purpose of the applicant’s extradition are illegal, unlawful, and unconstitutional, and they amount to an infringement of the applicant’s fundamental rights against arbitrary arrest, to his personal liberty, and to a fair hearing as guaranteed by the relevant provisions of CFRN and the Charter.
The Federal Government was ordered by the Federal High Court in Umuahia, on October 26, 2022, to pay N500 million in damages to the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra for his extraordinary rendition from Kenya and forcible extradition.
Ejimakor, however, expressed satisfaction with Bichi and Rufai’s resignation, saying: “Do you know that Yusuf Bichi, who was dismissed as DG of DSS yesterday, and Ahmed Rufai, who just resigned as DG, NIA, were vicariously accountable for the extraordinary rendition of MAZI NNAMDI KANU? Who will come next? He asked
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed was named the new Director-General of the NIA by Tinubu yesterday, While, Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi was appointed the new Director-General of the DSS.
