Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirate: 2025 edition of International Jazz Day which is celebrated around the world, honouring the sound of artistic freedom is to be hosted in Abu Dhabi, the Unite Arab Emirate. UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock are pleased to make the announcement that Abu Dhabi, the capiatal of United Arab Emirates, will be the Global Host of the 2025 edition of International Jazz Day.
The Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azouley said the 2025 International Jazz Day will return to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate to bring fresh vitality and a multicultural atmosphere. This multicultural worlds event will exemplify how jazz can bring people together and celebrate our humanity.
In his speech, the speaker said, “Jazz is a language of unity and a beacon of hope that continues to inspire new generations of artists from all over the world.” A prestigious group of international musicians is coming to Abu Dhabi to share their musical views, promote music as a healing tool, and bring people from different backgrounds together. We are very enthusiastic about this.
Tourism – Abu Dhabi: The celebration’s focal point will be its cultural history, which is described as an amalgam of Emirati and Arab traditions. The oud, qanoon, and ney will be among the classical instruments that introduce “Arabic Jazz” to global audiences Abu Dhabi the UNESCO Creative City of Music and 2025 Global Host City, will highlight the decades-long interplay between local musical traditions and jazz.
The announcement that Abu Dhabi will serve as the Global Host for the 2025 International Jazz Day is truly an honor. This honor highlights the vibrant music scene in our city and our steadfast dedication to both artistic excellence and cultural diversity. Abu Dhabi, a UNESCO Creative City of Music has long been recognized as a leader in musical innovation. Its vivid and distinctive cultural tapestry is created by the seamless blending of traditional Arabian melodies with international styles. Organizing International Jazz Day gives our vibrant music scene a worldwide platform and demonstrates our commitment to the arts. Along with the concert, educational programmes and community outreach are key features of the Day. On 30 April, Abu Dhabi will bring musical education to local schools across the city. Higher-education institutions like Berklee Abu Dhabi and New York University Abu Dhabi and other UAE-based universities will also open their doors, offering workshops and masterclasses in their lecture halls, exhibition spaces and auditoriums. Special attention will be paid to the participation of young musicians, encouraging them to cultivate their interest in music and pursue a career in jazz.
Found by the General Conference of UNESCO in 2011 and recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, International Jazz Day brings together countries and communities worldwide every 30 April. The day pays tribute to the art form of jazz, its capacity to bring people together, and its power to promote dialogue, freedom of expression, as well as respect for human rights and diversity.
The global outreach has reached more than 2 billion people on all globally through education programmers, performances, community outreach and online platforms. The Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz is the lead nonprofit organization charged with planning, promoting, and producing International Jazz Day each year.
