Tinubu’s enemies behind Igbo must go campaign – Chief Obidigbo

Lagos: Elder statesman and industrialist Chike Obidigbo has alleged that those behind Igbo must go campaign to evict Idi Igbo from Lagos and other south West part of Nigeria are  the enemies of President Bola Tinubu.

The industrialist urged president Tinubu and other well-meaning Yoruba and other Nigerians to intervene and save the situation before the misguided activities of the unrepentant Yoruba ethnic bigots championing the ejection of Igbo people from Lagos and entire Yoruba land, get to irredeemable state.

Chief Obidigbo, in his statement, regretted that the inglorious agitation by these set of people are now becoming very clear, loud and threatening with no meaningful and convincing official reprimand or security caution from the state or federal authority.

He blamed the growing anti-Igbo mentality that has been evident since the administration’s of President Tinubu’s stated .

He said entourage of political thugs and ethnic racists who think the Yoruba people would be better off without the contributions of Nigerians from other regions.

He claimed that the Nigerians had forgotten—possibly because of the ignorance—that teamwork and cooperation with allies from other tribes are essential to any administration’s success.

The business mugul added that the threat to launch a large protest under the hashtag #IgboMustGo# to force Igbo people out of Lagos State and, consequently, all of Yoruba  land did not come as a surprise because it was a reflection of some political agitators’ body language.

Dr chike Obidigbo said that Igbos from mainly South Eastern, and other parts of Nigeria are not without homeland, stating that their decision to see every part of Nigeria as home

Igbos lived and developed areas of their residence in the spirit and letter of the country’s constitution, and so must never be used against them.

Rather, it should be considered a big positive to the desired unity of the country.
“It is most unfortunate that younger Nigerians are being schooled to mistake divisive rhetoric as realpolitik.

Right from the 2019 general election up until now, exclusion of Igbo from Nigeria in all ramifications, has become an easy plea to divert attention from the malaise plaguing the country as a whole.

“Igbo had been threatened with possible massive drowning in the Lagoon if they voted according to their God-given conscience and against the dictates of potentates.

“The violence and threats got to a dizzying height during last year’s elections, when homes and business premises of Igbos were targeted and destroyed under many guises and policies,.

Government agencies and security outfits looked the other way, and in some cases openly participated in the atrocious treatments. against Ndi Igbos.

In all these vengeful and punitive measures against Igbo people in a country where they are true bonafides, nobody remembers that Igbos make positive contributions to the development of their areas of residence.
