LAGOS: The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday.
The meeting was revealed through photos shared on social media by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Onanuga captioned the images: Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers, now on suspension from office, visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday.
Though pictures from the encounter were released, the details of their discussions remain undisclosed.
This meeting comes months after President Tinubu suspended Fubara, along with his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly amid a deepening political crisis in the state.

The crisis, which has destabilized the state’s political structure, began as a power struggle between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The fallout quickly engulfed the Rivers State Assembly, splitting lawmakers into factions: one aligned with Wike, and the other with the embattled governor.
On March 18, 2025, citing threats to peace and governance, Tinubu imposed a six-month suspension on Fubara, Odu, and the Assembly members. He also appointed retired naval chief Ibok-Ette Ibas as the sole administrator of the state, describing the move as a constitutional intervention to restore order.
President Tinubu stated that the suspension was necessary after multiple failed reconciliation efforts and reports of pipeline explosions and rising insecurity in the state.
No responsible President would watch such a grave situation unfold without taking constitutional steps to ensure the restoration of governance, peace, and security, Tinubu said at the time.
Despite his suspension, Fubara has consistently expressed a willingness to reconcile, calling for peace and referring to Wike as his boss.
