Remi Tinubu Faces Off With Gov Adeleke During Ooni of Ife Anniversary Event

OSOGBO: A full video has surfaced showing the moment Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, openly confronted Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, during a public event to mark the anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The incident, which occurred on stage in the presence of traditional rulers, dignitaries and invited guests, has since gone viral on social media, triggering widespread reactions and debate.

In the video, the First Lady was seen addressing Governor Adeleke directly in a tense exchange that many observers described as awkward and unprecedented for such a high-profile ceremonial gathering. Although the exact subject of the confrontation was not immediately clear, body language and tone suggested visible displeasure, drawing murmurs from the audience.

Governor Adeleke appeared momentarily taken aback as the exchange unfolded, while event officials and guests watched in silence.

The confrontation briefly disrupted the flow of the anniversary programme before proceedings eventually resumed.

The event was organised to commemorate the Ooni of Ife’s reign, a traditionally solemn and celebratory occasion meant to promote unity, cultural heritage and harmony among political and traditional leaders.

The video’s emergence has sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians criticising the First Lady over the appropriateness of the confrontation in a public and traditional setting, while others defended her right to express concerns if necessary.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the Osun State Government has issued an official statement addressing the incident.
