President Tinubu Grants Automatic Employment to 774 National Health Fellows

ABUJA: President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic employment for 774 fellows of the National Health Programme, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system. He made the announcement during the official launch of the programme in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Addressing the fellows tasked with monitoring Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the country’s 774 local government areas Tinubu assured them of job placements upon completing their one-year tenure. In a decisive declaration, he stated, “You are hired.

The President acknowledged the role of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare in championing the programme and noted that the Minister of Finance was also present to support its implementation.

“This programme is designed to equip you with best practices, knowledge, and skills necessary to transform the healthcare sector.

A strong healthcare system is fundamental to national development no country can truly prosper if its people are unhealthy. Unsustainable health programmes pose a great risk, but with your dedication, we can build a resilient system,” Tinubu emphasized.

The announcement followed an appeal from Health Minister Ali Pate, who urged federal, state, and local governments to integrate the fellows into the workforce to strengthen Nigeria’s drive toward universal health coverage.
