ENUGU:The University of Nigeria, Nsukka has strongly denied the claims made in a viral video by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu.
The university’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Dr Okwun Omeaku, denied the claim made by Gwamnishu on wednesday. Gwamnishu alleged on a viral video that a 17-year-old girl named Joy Eze had been killed on campus and that kidnappings and other crimes were rampant at the university.
However, the university’s management dismissed these claims as “fake news” intended to incite panic among students, parents, and guardians.
According to Omeaku, the campuses are safe, and no student deaths or kidnappings have been reported.Omeaku claims that there have been no reports of student abductions or fatalities and that the campuses are secure.

The university has called for Gwamnishu to issue a public apology and retract the video.
Parents and students were reassured by the administration that the campuses are safe.
We would like to make it clear that these accusations are untrue. No male or female student was abducted on any of our schools, and no 17-year-old girl named Joy Eze was murdered on campus.
It is important to clarify that no incidents of kidnapping involving our students have occurred within the confines of the University of Nigeria’s campuses, despite the fact that the country faces general security challenges,” the statement said.
