ABUJA: Encomiums have been pouring in for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and a private security outfit, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), following the achievement of a significant milestone in Nigeria’s oil sector. The Nation’s crude oil production has risen to 1.8 million barrels per day (1.8m bpd), a remarkable increase attributed to the combined efforts of NNPCL and Tantita.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the board and management of NNPCL, who also disclosed that gas production had surged to 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (7.4bscfd).
This increase in production has been hailed by industry stakeholders, particularly due to the role played by Tantita Security in combatting crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, which had been major impediments to Nigeria’s oil output.
Tantita, which has been at the forefront of the battle against oil theft in the Niger Delta region, has implemented a relentless crackdown on illegal activities, forcing many oil thieves to abandon their trade.
