Pamela O., whose Twitter handle is @pamelathepundit, has raised concerns about the challenges faced by Nigerian professionals migrating to Canada. According to Pamela, one of the major disadvantages is the lack of recognition for international work experience and qualifications in Canada. This situation often forces immigrants to take on low-skilled jobs such as waiting tables, taking shifts in superstores, or even providing personal care services to individuals with special needs, just to make ends meet and cover their bills.
She highlights that despite possessing professional qualifications from Nigeria, many find themselves unable to secure jobs in their respective fields in Canada due to the perceived lack of Canadian work
.
She shared,
What you’re by no means informed is that your {qualifications}, work expertise and abilities (for which you’ll be granted the visa) will quantify to nought when the LACK OF CANADIAN WORK EXPERIENCE will pressure you to attend tables, beg to take hours at superstore and stroll individuals with….. particular wants as a way of livelihood to pay endless payments and month-to-month home hire that’s equal to what massive households pay each year again in Nigeria.
My colleagues abroad, who were formerly CEOs, MDs, and 800k NGN wage earners, offered their firms, quit, and relocated to Canada as “Expert Staff” because they were knowledgeable about this field and could answer the simple question, “What’s there in Nigeria to return to?”Are you really right to inquire because what is there to inquire about again?
Don’t even let me begin… It hurts. It hurts so dangerous. Undecided which hurts extra; the tales of considerable job alternatives in Canada which drives hardworking Nigerian professionals to pack up & go away…solely to go wrestle for alternatives as described above with Refugees shipped from war-torn Sudan, Syria, Iran and so forth.
I’m not underrating Refugees, no please. I’m saying, for ALL that Nigerians undergo to get that visa that’s given them based mostly on their ability and… skilled skills, they deserve greater than getting their passports stamped on the Airports (as a result of we certain don’t go by street or water), getting their SIN/SSN and watched as all of us get denied alternatives to place our ability to make use of which was the primary cause for going.
I problem you to indicate me one single one that discovered a job in Canada of their space of experience inside 3 months of arrival whereas painfully spending their financial savings (be aware of unfavourable FX). Nigeria is hard however expensive all, it’s harder dwelling abroad and not using a correct job.
Even with these survival jobs, one has to work 3 differing types to pay $1k hire (with utilities) month-to-month for a self-contained kind of condominium on common. U REALLY wish to assume once more. Have my greatest needs in your resolution. Spectatorially, P. O.
