Nigeria Police Begin Recruitment Of 50,000 Constables

ABUJA: The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, has officially commenced the recruitment of 50,000 police constables, following approval from President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Thursday, the PSC Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, announced that the online application portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The Commission assured Nigerians that the recruitment process will be conducted in the most transparent, merit-based and credible manner. It also emphasized that applications are completely free, and no payment will be required at any stage.

Eligibility Requirements

For General Duty Applicants:

  • Must possess GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent qualification.

  • Minimum of five (5) credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

  • Must be Nigerian by birth.

  • Age requirement: 18–25 years.

  • Must be medically, physically and psychologically fit.

  • Minimum height: 1.67m for males and 1.64m for females.

For Specialist Cadre:

  • Must possess GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of four (4) credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

  • Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in the relevant field.

  • Must possess Trade Test certificates where applicable.

  • Age requirement: 18–28 years.

According to the PSC, successful candidates will be recruited into both general duty and specialist units of the Nigeria Police Force.
