New minimum wage, Labour, FG in talks-Comrade Osifo, TUC President

Abuja: President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC),  Comrade Festus Osifo, disclosed in hi statement  that there are still some level of discussions going on between Labour representatives and the Federal Government regarding a new national minimum wage bill, expected to be submitted to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.

Before the bill is made public, comrade Osifo stated that substantial preparatory work is underway. He said this at the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) Women Commission’s inaugural Annual Convention in Abuja, which has as its theme “The Dynamic Woman: Navigating Challenges in a Constantly Evolving World.”

You were given our word in January of this year that we would move quickly to prevent any more delays. Our diverse ideas have been presented, and President Tinubu has stated that he will be consulting with a wide range of parties, including labour unions, organized private sector, governors, and chairs of local governments. To make sure that the suggested minimum wage sufficiently supports the majority of people, we are constantly conducting outreach and facilitating conversations.

Osifo addressed ongoing fuel scarcity issues, attributing them to logistical challenges that will soon be resolve

He said recent experiences have shown severe disruptions on major transport routes, such as the Aviele to Auchi road, where prolonged blockades have occurred. These logistical constraints significantly impact fuel distribution across the country,” he explained.
