BENIN -CITY: A man named Wealth Nnamdi is alleged to have murdered his lover and her three-year-old daughter in Edo State. According to a statement by Moses Joel Yamu, the spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, the incident occurred on March 18.
Yamu, a Chief Superintendent of Police, revealed that Nnamdi was scheduled to marry his lover on March 29. The motive for the crime remains unclear, and it is unknown whether there had been a dispute between the couple.
The police spokesman further stated that the Ekiadolor Division received a report from a concerned neighbor who noticed a foul odor emanating from the deceased’s home, located on Idiangbona Street in the Ovbiogoe Community.
The statement reads: “The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the horrific murder of a woman known as ‘Mama Hallelujah’ and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekiadolor led a team to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered that the door was locked from the outside.
The officers forced entry and found the decomposing bodies of the woman, who had an apparent machete wound to her head, and her daughter, lying on the bed.
Preliminary investigations have pointed to the victim’s live-in partner, Wealth Nnamdi, as the prime suspect. His wedding to the victim was scheduled for March 29, 2025.
Since the discovery, Nnamdi has gone into hiding, and the police are making every effort to apprehend the fugitive.
