JIGAWA: Following Jigawa state tanker fire explosion that claims 140 persons in Majiya town of Taura Local Government Area of the State, A mass burial has been conducted for the victims of the petrol tanker explosion on Wednesday.
Rapidospace News gathered that about 90 other victims of the ugly incident are currently in various hospitals in the state receiving treatment.
Tuesday night, at midnight, the tanker driver lost control of the tanker when it was traveling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State, close to Khadija University in Majiya. This resulted in an explosion.
After leaving Kano and traveling to Nguru Town in Yobe State, the driver lost control of the tanker, which eventually exploded.
The residents who hurried to collect spilled petrol after the tanker overturned, according to the police, were the ones who started the disaster.
“The residents were gathering fuel from the overturned tanker when the blast happened, igniting a tremendous fire that instantly claimed the lives of 94 people,” Jigawa State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Adam, stated in a statement.
“The incident left another 50 people severely injured, who were then rushed to Ringim and Hadejia General
DSP Adam described the incident a “horrific tragedy,” highlighting the importance of public awareness of the dangers of accumulating petrol after an accident

Federal Government orders probe of Tanker Explosion
The Federal Government ordered the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority to look into the tanker explosion that killed over a hundred persons in Jigawa State, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in response to the incident.
Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, also expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the regrettable event in the directive, which was signed on Wednesday by Nneamaka Okafor, his Special Adviser on Media and Communications.
The statement stated as follows: “Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of Petroleum Resources, has expressed sadness over the unfortunate explosion of a petrol tanker that occurred in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State. The incident claimed over 100 lives and injured several others
