How Osun Police Arrested Suspected Killers of FRSC Officer and Her Daughter

OSOGBO: Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Osun State Police Command have arrested three of the five suspects linked to the gruesome murder of a senior Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, and her 12-year-old daughter, Sewa.

The arrested suspects  Fajemirokun Victor, Daramola Gboyega, popularly known as Abere’fa, and Sunday James  were picked up at different locations after attempts to evade arrest. Two other suspects, Adumati Idowu and Faturoti Kehinde, also known as Ifagoriite, are currently on the run.

Police investigations revealed that Victor, who was reportedly close to the deceased officer, allegedly lured her from Abeokuta, Ogun State, to Iwoye Ijesa in Osun State. There, she and her daughter were killed, decapitated and dismembered, with some body parts reportedly taken away.

Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, while briefing journalists, explained that the case initially began as a missing-person report filed on November 10 by Victor’s wife and brother.

However, further intelligence revealed that Victor was still in contact with some associates after his reported disappearance.

Investigators traced one of the suspects, Abere’fa, to his residence in Iwoye Ijesa.

He narrowly escaped arrest during a police visit but was later tracked to Iloko Ijesa, where he was apprehended in the early hours of November 16. During interrogation, he confessed that Victor brought the FRSC officer and her daughter to him and disclosed details of their killing.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Sunday James in Ekiti State, where he had gone into hiding. Police sources said James was an apprentice in Ifa divination under Abere’fa.

He later led operatives to the site where the young girl was murdered, while Abere’fa took officers to the river where the remains of the FRSC officer were dumped.

Police confirmed that with the assistance of INTERPOL, Victor was arrested in Ghana and extradited to Nigeria, where he was handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Lagos.

During interrogation, Victor reportedly admitted that he orchestrated the killings after consulting a native doctor over his failing business fortunes. He claimed he was told that killing his lover would restore his success.

While Victor admitted to ordering the murder of the FRSC officer and her daughter, he denied involvement in the dismemberment of their bodies. Meanwhile, James confessed to slitting the throats of both victims, stating that he carried out the act under instruction.

Investigations are ongoing as police intensify efforts to arrest the remaining suspects and conclude prosecution of those already in custody.
