House of Reps Mourns Passing of Hon. Onanuga at 58 Aftwr

ABUJA: The House of Representatives has announced the passing of  Adewunmi Onanuga, a distinguished lawmaker from Ogun State, following a brief illness. The statement was issued yesterday in Abuja by House Spokesman, Akintunde Rotimi.

Born on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was a dedicated public servant and a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023, earning a reputation as a passionate advocate for social development and women’s empowerment.

During the Ninth Assembly, she served as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women’s Affairs and Social Development. In this role, Onanuga championed numerous policies aimed at uplifting women and improving the welfare of vulnerable populations.

Her leadership and unwavering commitment earned her the respect of her colleagues and the gratitude of her constituents.

In his statement, Rotimi described Onanuga’s death as a “significant loss to the legislative community and the people of Ogun State.”

“Her contributions to the advancement of women’s rights and social development will be remembered, he said.

Fellow lawmakers, political leaders, and constituents have continued to pay tribute to Onanuga, praising her for her dedication, integrity, and tireless advocacy for women and children across Nigeria.
