The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abayomi Oladipupo, confirmed the arrest on Thursday while addressing the media at the state police in Akure. He revealed that the matter had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
The suspect is currently in our custody, and the case has been handed over to the CID. We will proceed with a thorough investigation, the Commissioner stated.
Mr. Oladipupo also briefed the press on the arrest of 12 other individuals, who are facing charges ranging from murder and armed robbery to arson, burglary, and theft. The police chief highlighted the command’s ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety across the state.

With the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State next month, the Commissioner also took the opportunity to call for peace and unity among political leaders and their supporters. He emphasized that the police would not tolerate any form of violence before, during, or after the election.
I want to make it clear that any act of intimidation or violence will not be tolerated. I urge all political figures, particularly those running for office, to foster respect and cooperation among their supporters. This will ensure a peaceful election and contribute to a peaceful Ondo State for everyone,” Oladipupo appealed.
