The CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s parent company remembered Brian Thompson as an extraordinary person in a video sent to employees on Wednesday.
Brian Thompson was tragically killed by a gunman outside a Manhattan hotel while on his way to attend UnitedHealthcare’s annual investor conference. In the video, Andrew Witty, CEO of UnitedHealth Group, expressed his shock, calling it a terrible tragedy, and described Thompson as a person who touched the lives of countless people within the organization and beyond. Witty extended his condolences to Thompson’s family, who survive him, including his wife and two children.
Thompson was named CEO of UnitedHealthcare in April 2021. UnitedHealthcare is part of UnitedHealth Group, one of the largest and most influential health insurance companies in America.
