MACCEDONIA: A devastating fire that erupted at a nightclub in North Macedonia on Sunday has claimed the lives of at least 50 people, according to reports from the state news agency MIA.
The fire occurred at a venue in Kocani, a town about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of the capital, Skopje, where approximately 1,500 concertgoers had gathered.
MIA, citing the interior ministry, confirmed the tragic toll, stating that the fire took place in a discotheque called Pulse.
The venue, located in the small town of Kocani with a population of around 30,000, was hosting a performance by DNK, a popular hip-hop duo in the region.

The concert, which began at midnight on Sunday, was primarily attended by young people.
The fire reportedly broke out at 3:00 AM local time (0200 GMT), according to online media outlet SDK. The blaze injured more than 100 individuals, many of whom were rushed to nearby hospitals in Kocani and Stip, about 30 kilometers to the south.
Rescue sources have provided this figure, though further details on the extent of the injuries remain unclear.
While authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the fire, local media have speculated that it may have been triggered by the use of pyrotechnics during the event. As of now, the incident remains under investigation.
